The Royal Arch Masons 2013 Bicentenary Appeal
There are now less than 9 months remaining until Wednesday 16th October 2013 which will mark the end of the RA2013 Appeal in celebration of 200 years of the Holy Royal Arch.
An important element of the Bicentenary celebration programme was to provide a permanent reminder of this momentous event by raising more than one million pounds “Nation wide” in support of the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s research fellowship scheme.
The Royal College is a registered charity and receives no direct funding from the NHS and relies heavily on voluntary contributions from individuals, trusts and legacies. Nationally less that 2% of funding for medical research is given to surgical projects and therefore support is required to promote advancements in surgical care for current and future generations, providing significant advances in
• Hip and knee replacement
• The prevention of Strokes
• Reconstructive surgery for trauma and war wounded victims
• Less invasive surgery and thereby quicker recovery
• Skilled operations to improve hearing and sight
• Cancer survival rates
Those who attended the Provincial Grand Chapter at Great Queen Street, or selected Combined Chapter convocations within the Province over the past 12 months, and were privileged enough to hear speakers from the College, could not be but moved and touched by their sincerity, commitment and dedication towards helping others, which was obvious to one and all by their compassionate appeals during their presentations.
We are well on our way to achieving the target set by the Supreme Grand Chapter, however more commitment is required if the Royal Arch Masons of Essex are to show their support
Donations can be made by Gift Aid envelopes, internal Relief Chest transfers or by phone on 020 7395 9349 or visiting the Grand Charity website www.grandcharity.org and whilst there why not use the link to the RA2013 Appeal and proceed to the Royal College of Surgeons page on which a short research film can be viewed which explains how the Scheme operates and where some of our donations have already been directed
