Freemasonry
Today is the leading independent voice for Freemasons
everywhere, written by Freemasons for Freemasons and is run on a voluntary
basis with
profits distributed to recognised charities. We are entirely reliant
on subscriptions and every one is important to the work we do.
The Freemasonry Today website www.freemasonrytoday.com is
now online and it not only contains the full content of the current
issue but the complete content of every issue ever published. Please
take a
look,
enjoy it and help us by emailing this message your friends
and ask them to tell their friends.
Ilford Masonic
Association: www.ilford-masonic.org.uk
"A variety of
speakers offer talks on subjects of interest to Freemasons at informal lecture
meetings on the first Thursdays in November, December, February and March.
Membership is open to all Master Masons at a cost of £5.00 per year or £10
for three years. Further details on the IMA website at www.ilford-masonic.org.uk"
The
Essex Oaths Project: http://www.philbrick2255.org.uk/p-oaths.php
The Essex Oaths
Project involves transcribing all of the details from the surviving
Returns made by Essex Lodges in accordance with the Unlawful
Societies Act of 1799 and held by the Essex Record Office. This
Project was conceived in 2006 by Bro. Bernard Williamson and put to the
Study Circle as a research project in which many of them, and
others, could become involved.
It is a daunting project with well over 400 A3 pages, each containing
some 40 lines of details. The details shown on these returns,
in a searchable database, are the subject of the Essex Oaths Project and
our objective is to provide a free and important research and educational
resource for Social Historians, Masonic Historians and Genealogists. It
is available now.
Cornerstone Society: www.cornerstonesociety.com
The Cornerstone Society was set up in 1999
to promote understanding of the meaning and purpose of Freemasonry.
It organises conferences and hosts this website. Membership is free and open
to all Master Masons and above.
It is run by a committee chaired by the Marquess of Northampton.
First of all, The Cornerstone
Society would like to wish you a very happy, peaceful and enlightened New
Year. May Freemasonry move forward to the good of all mankind in 2003. This
is one of an occasional set of updates/newsitems about our website, about
forthcoming events, and other items. If you haven't been on the website recently,
go have a look (www.workingtools.org) - there are still things going on in
the hothouse debate section, and we are sure you would like to open up a new
topic by adding your own ideas. Have a look also at the bookworm section -
it's amazing how many books are reviewed there, and we are hoping to add more
in the future, such as Kirk MacNulty's The Way of the Craftsman and Toby Churton's
The Golden Builders.
We are currently working on our publicity for the June 2003 Conference to
be held in the Grand Temple at Freemasons' Hall, London, on Saturday 7 June
2003. While waiting for the official flyer to come back from the printers,
we can tell you (as a privileged member of our mailing list!) a few of the
details. The programme will include The MW The Grand Master of Portugal, MWBro
José Anes, who will speak on "An Hermetic and Templar Palace" (and
we can tell you this one has some big surprises for you!), W. Kirk MacNulty,
already well-known to most of you for his books, speaking on "A Philosophical
Background for Masonic Symbolism", Neville Barker-Cryer, also well-known
to many (he spoke at the Christleton Conference in November) speaking on "The
Grand Lodge of York Ritual - its Spirit and Form". Then, after lunch,
in addition to the Ritual Workshop and Question Time, Bro Lightfoote, of Freemasonry
Today fame, has kindly consented to speak. The title of his talk will be "A
Matter of Degree", and the content is another secret! We will be putting
an application form on the website in the near future, but meanwhile keep
the date free in your diary!
But do please remember that the Cornerstone website is yours, to air your views and join in the debates!
With best wishes, The Cornerstone
Society
