You will see that our list includes Wheelchairs and it is interesting to note that we have over 125 of these currently out on loan and there is still a continuing demand. If you have one of our wheelchairs which is no longer being used, please arrange its return so that it may be put back into circulation. Also, should you be in a position to donate a Wheelchair or any other equipment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
I am sure that you will already be aware that we are able to offer this service as a result of generous donations made to the Trust by Lodges and Chapters in the Province and we take this opportunity to record our grateful thanks and assurance that this is faithfully applied.
It was announced in the National Press that for an electrically powered wheelchair, the waiting time for supply under the NHS is 5 years. I am pleased to be able to record that thanks to the generous donations we have received, we now have 24 of these on our books.

Westcliff-On-Sea RMBI Holiday 2011

As one of the recipients who came to Westcliff-On-Sea to take part in the 2011 holiday. I am writing to express my sincere thanks (through the medium of the Essex Mason) to all the Masonic Brethren who gave us such a wonderful holiday.
I was met at the Station by Jerry Oram and his daughter Victoria who welcomed us and put us at ease and then we travelled to the Westcliff Hotel. The Hotel was spacious and comfortable, and all the Hotel staff treated us with kindness and nothing was too much trouble.

Waiting at the Hotel to greet us were David Mills the Chairman and several other members of the Masonic Trust. A full programme of outings had been arranged, and we soon realised that many months of thought and planning had taken place.

Our programme of entertainment started with a visit to PEDOKC, Stisted where we were able to meet the residents, including a gentleman aged 104!, and saw what a wonderful home it was, with beautiful grounds around it. We then went to The Braintree Masonic Centre for lunch and entertainment, which gave us a brilliant start to the holiday.

The next day we went on a boat trip from Westminster Pier to Greenwich and lunch was kindly provided by The Orsett Centre.
Saxon Hall was our next venue and we enjoyed a Cockney Night Supper and entertainment with hats and flags provided by the Masons a great night out. We then visited the Chelsea Hospital and had a conducted tour by Brian one of the pensioners resplendent in his red coat.
The Mayor's Parlour 'Porters' was our next visit when we were given a tour of the House by the Mayor's Mace Bearer which has many treasures and panelling dating back to 1506. A splendid lunch followed at Hamilton Court.
Grand Lodge in London was the highlight of the holiday and a lovely lunch was provided by The Upminster Centre at The Lodge.
We also made visits to Bressingham Gardens and Steam Museum, Fish & Chips at Woodham Ferrers and a visit to Barleylands Craft Centre, Wilkin Jam Factory and a BBQ at The Hurdlemakers Arms.
Visiting London again we saw the performance of 'Legally Blonde' at The Savoy Theatre, a lively show with a young cast.
The Farewell Dinner took place at Saxon Hall, and was attended by The Mayor and other local dignitaries, and it was a fitting climax to the end of our holiday.
Every guest received a photo album as a record of every where we had been.

Sincere thanks must also be expressed to all the Lodges, Centres and Homes who gave us lunch every day.
During the holiday the wives of the Trust Masons accompanied us on the coach and the whole time we were shown the true meaning of Masonic Love.

Once again I thank you for the holiday of a lifetime, which was happy and successful for everyone.

Betty Box of Eastbourne
RMBI Holiday Maker.
